Tigerfight Foundation originated from Team Tigerfight, which was a 2009 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night walk team. Team Tigerfight was a family team, walking for 2 year old Ryan Wilson who went through a bone marrow transplant that previous March.
Each year in communities all across the United States and Canada teams of families, friends, co-workers and local and national corporations come together to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk events. Events that bring help and hope to people of all ages who are battling blood cancers.
Our first walk team, back in 2009, was made up of friends and family members who were grateful for Ryan’s progress and wanted to share in this milestone with us. We raised a total of $9,932 during that first Light the Night walk and we have continued to participate and fundraise ever since. To date Tigerfight has raised over $280,000 for LLS.
While Ryan was going through treatment we met other local families and saw a need in the local community for additional financial support. We had been raising money for our local Light the Night walk since 2009, but we knew that we could do more locally.
The Tigerfight Foundation was established and became a non-profit 501 © (3) organization in May of 2014. Since April of 2015 the Tigerfight Foundation has provided over $236,000 in financial assistance to local families going through pediatric blood cancer treatment.
